Indraprastha Indian Kitchen and Bar sits in the heart of downtown Toronto, carving out a space for those seeking a modern take on North Indian and Hyderabad-inspired flavors. This is more than your typical curry house – here, the menu balances traditional dishes with inventive twists, offering everything from classic Butter Chicken Curry to vibrant, spice-forward options like the Gunpowder Chicken and Peri Peri Lolipop. The standout biryanis, especially the Hyderabad Veg Dum Biryani and Chicken Dum Biryani, provide a rich aroma and satisfying depth that reflect careful layering of spices and textures.

The atmosphere leans towards casual yet polished; it’s a spot where you can land after work for a relaxed dinner or meet friends for drinks without the need to dress up. The bar complement adds a lively but not overbearing energy, making it suited both for intimate conversations and small groups unwinding together. Service feels attentive but unobtrusive, contributing to a comfortable dining pace.

This place resonates well with diners who appreciate their food with a bit of kick but also those who enjoy exploring nuanced flavors. It’s ideal on cool evenings when a warming Tandoori Chicken Full platter paired with a cool Mango Lassi hits the spot. Its downtown location makes it a convenient stop for locals looking to balance a busy day with a flavorful meal, while its edge in pricing compared to other nearby options makes it an attractive choice without the tourist-heavy feel.

The vibe is relaxed, current, and approachable – less about formal dining and more about savoring well-crafted dishes that don’t shy away from spice or creativity. Whether you’re a local craving a faithful taste of North Indian street food classics or a visitor wanting a genuine, lively meal in the city, Indraprastha delivers a well-rounded, flavorful experience.

We ordered the butter chicken Biryani. Food was very good, a bit spicy, but I like spicy food so that was a plus for me. Service from Anu was excellent. She was attentive to us without being overbearing. The pricing of the food is also reasonable compared to other restaurants I looked up on google maps. I would come back here again if I was a local vs. a tourist.

I'm not sure what everyone's complaining about. Most of the Indian restaurants in the area are bland and overrated, but this place was as good as some of the restaurants I visited in India last year. Malai tikka was juicy and flavorful. Piri Piri chicken was perfectly spiced with a delicious sauce. The mutton dishes were tender, well balanced, and exploding with flavour! Even the mango lassi tasted fresh! I've eaten from here a few times now, and it's definitely one of the best Indian restaurants I've found in downtown Toronto!
